Using the Library Catalog to Locate Books

When searching for print books in the library's catalog, it's best to use only a few keywords that are broad in scope and most effectively capture your research topic. Once you put in your search, a list of results will appear.

From there you can click on the record and the Call No. in the record will be the book's location in the library. If the location says "Stacks," then it should be an on open shelf in the library and is available for check out. If there is a date under "Status," that means the book is currently checked out.

You may also look at the "Full Record" tab of the book to see what other subject terms are associated with the book (which could in turn be keywords you try searching) and to see the Table of Contents were available.
